Crime Prevention Unit

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit provides information to local schools, businesses, civic organizations and private citizens through literature distribution, private presentation and group meetings.

Criminals like to target those they feel are easy prey.  We, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit hope to lower your risk and  heighten  your awareness and reduce criminal victimization by informing citizens and providing information to the public on potential criminal threats.

Being informed is key, there is no way to stop all criminal activity but we can work together to reduce it’s threat.  The Crime Prevention Unit provides information on several areas of prevention listed below are a few topics you can find on our website.

    We live in an ever-changing world where no one is immune from the possibility of criminal victimization, but we can take preventative measures and be better informed for the potential threat of crime.

    There is a great need to inform Pitt County citizens on the possibility of criminal threat.  A crime can occur at any time, any place and to anyone.  The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit wants to provide the public with informative programming and literature to help lower their risk, of becoming a victim. Preventative measures are key in reducing crime and the P.C.S.O. Crime Prevention Unit wants to help you, the citizens  and communities, reduce your risk of victimization through criminal activity.
