Basic Sex Offender Information


• Each Sex Offender has an individual file containing his/ her information in the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

• Sex Offender information is also available to the public in a catalog/notebook form.

• Online: NC Website- http://ncregistry.ncsbi.gov/ look to the left there is a listing tilted Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry (Click on it)

• When a Sex Offender is released from Prison we are sent a message from both the Dept. of Correction and Probation & Parole. The Sex Offender is supposed to register on the date they are released or an extension up to 10 days.

• If a Sex Offenders moves or changes addresses, they are to go by the PCSO in person and have the paperwork changed filing their new adds. (If they fail to do this a felony warrant will be issued for their arrest.)

• Every year a Sex Offender is sent through Certified Mail a letter to advise them to re-register. The Offender is to come in, in person and have their picture taken and confirm their address.

• If an Offender has been convicted of more than one sex offense since 1996, they are consider Recidivist: repeat offender, and have to re-register and confirm address in person every 90 days, because they are consider a greater risk to society. (If they fail to do this a felony warrant can be issued for their arrest.)
