Senior Connection
Senior
Connection is a calling program designed to assist in meeting
the safety needs and checking the welfare of Seniors, and
Disabled individuals who live alone. This program is geared
towards keeping this segment of Pitt
County’s population connected with the community.
How
does Senior Connection work?
The Care
Giver, Senior or Disabled person contacts the Pitt County
Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit to sign up for the
program. A Senior Connection volunteer, will make contact with
the client periodically during the week, this is a predetermined
time and day of the week the client will receive calls. The
purpose for this call is to check the well being of the client.
Calls should not take more than five minutes. If the client
fails to answer the phone, a second call will be made, if the is
no answer on the second attempt, and emergency contact will be
notified.
Is
there a cost for this service?
This
service is free to all seniors and disabled persons living in
Pitt County that meet program
requirements.
Who
are the Senior Connection clients and what are are their
responsibilities?
- Any
senior who lives in Pitt County that meets enrollment
requirements is eligible for this service.
- The
client is responsible for contacting the Senior Connection
line and informing the service by leaving a message or making
verbal contact with the coordinator or a volunteer, if they
are not going to be able to receive their call.
